Kimberley Conference and Athlete Training Centre Project, City of Kimberley, BC (2010)
Successfully developed a three year meetings marketing strategy and annual marketing plan for the recently completed Kimberley Conference and Athlete Training Centre (KCATC) and a creative the brand identity and related collateral materials the City would need in order to begin it work in marketing the region and centre. The strategy established an action plan for marketing, sales and advertizing that incorporated the community’s goal of enhancing area tourism and improving the economic sustainability of Kimberley. The plan resulted in the development of the Accessible. Incomparable brand that quickly established Kimberley within the Canadian meetings market and Kimberley has successfully hosted numerous British Columbia and Western Alberta government and association meetings and conventions in the North and Western Canada.
The successful launch of the KCATC brand resulted in the community asking Robin for additional advice on the brand positioning for Kimberley’s economic development arm, Invest Kimberley. Building on the branding for the conference centre, Robin developed a new visual identity and related display advertizing was created for the Kimberley’s economic development program, resulting in the new Invest Here Live Better branding.
Tourism Yukon UK Market Evaluation Project, United Kingdom (2009)
Engaged by Tourism Yukon to consult with key UK travel trade wholesalers to evaluate the effectiveness of Tourism Yukon’s marketing plan in the market, and to obtain input on possible new strategic direction for future campaigns in the UK. Also provided training sessions to members of the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) Canada Travel Specialists Program and staff.
Midnight Sun Conv. Center Marketing Strategy Development Project (2008)
Tasked with the development of a 3 year marketing strategy and plan for the Midnight Sun Convention Centre in Inuvik, NWT. The strategy focused on the generation of sales from within the prevalent industries in Inuvik including petroleum, First Nations/Inuit related organizations, and generating meetings business for the community via direct sales calls, trade show attendance, advertizing and
City of Yellowknife’s Convention Bureau Development Project (2005)
Developed a 3 year meetings marketing strategy and plan for a proposed meetings-focused destination marketing organization for the City of Yellowknife. Provided recommendations as to possible organizational structures and funding mechanisms.
Yukon Film Commission Destination Yukon Marketing Project, Whitehorse (2003)
Managed the Yukon Film Commission sales and marketing program during a 3 month re-structuring period. Tasks included the development of a short term sales plan; and expediting inquiries relating to Yukon film location requests received by the Commission, representing the Yukon Film Commission at key film location trade shows in Toronto and Vancouver and conducting sales calls at the major Los Angeles-based film studios. Also asked to provide an overview on the new YESSA legislation and its possible impacts on the film industry in the Yukon.
Tourism Industry Assoc. of Canada (TIAC) Rendez-vous Canada, Ottawa (1999 – 2000)
Tasked with developing marketing strategies to increase the international travel trade’s participation Rendez-vous Canada in the first year the event was managed by TIAC. Also assisted in the on-site management of the show, worked with the event organizing team to ensure sponsors and exhibitors expectations were met.
